Pefkoulia
A long pine-fringed sand beach on the west coast
Pefkoulia is a long stretch of sand bordered by a pine forest that comes down almost to the shore. The water is clear, sometimes with waves, and the relaxed atmosphere makes it an excellent choice for a full beach day close to Lefkada town.
Pines down to the sea
The beach takes its name from the pines that dress the slope and come down almost to the waterline. Their green against the blue water gives the beach a character of its own, and at the edges you'll find natural shade, a rare luxury on the west coast.
Room for everyone
Pefkoulia is one of the island's longest beaches, so it never feels crowded even at the height of the season. One stretch has sunbeds and a summer canteen; the rest stays free, for those who come with just a towel and a book.
The water and the waves
The water is clear and gets deep fairly quickly, and when the west wind blows, waves roll in and make the swimming more spectacular. On calm days the sea is like a mirror, perfect for floating without a care.
A step from town
You're only 20 minutes from Lefkada town and 5 from Agios Nikitas, so the beach pairs easily with an evening in the village at a taverna with fresh fish. Parking is right off the road, then you walk straight onto the sand.
How to get there
By car from Lefkada, about 20 min along the west coast, between Tsoukalades and Agios Nikitas; parking by the beach.
