Right next to the picturesque village of Agios Nikitas, Mylos is a secluded beach of fine white pebbles and turquoise water. You reach it by a footpath over the hill or by water taxi from Agios Nikitas, and its isolation preserves its hidden-cove charm.
The bay with the windmill
Mylos means mill, and the old windmill on the beach is the bay's landmark: a lone white silhouette between the pale pebbles and the turquoise water. The scenery feels like another era of the island.
The footpath over the hill
From Agios Nikitas a footpath climbs over the hill and drops into the bay in about 20 minutes. Wear comfortable shoes, bring water, and walk it in the morning cool. From the top you see the whole beach, windmill at its far end.
The water taxi from Agios Nikitas
The effortless option is the water taxi from the village's little harbour: a few minutes on the water and you're on the beach. Many combine the two, walking the path one way and returning by boat, coastline views included.
Almost total quiet
Mylos has no bars or sunbeds along most of the beach, and that keeps its charm intact: white pebbles, clear water and silence. Bring supplies and stay until the afternoon light turns the bay golden.
How to get there
From Lefkada, about 20 min to Agios Nikitas; then a water taxi (about 5 min) or a footpath over the hill of about 20 min on foot.
