Gialos

Golden sand and a wide stretch, away from the crowds

Moderately accessibleSand and pebbles

Gialos is a long, wide beach on the west coast, with sand, fine pebbles and open, crystal-clear water. Being more remote, it stays quiet even in high season, ideal for those looking for space and unspoiled nature.

Space as far as you can see

Gialos is the beach where crowds simply don't fit: a long, wide ribbon of sand and fine pebbles below the slopes of the west coast. Even in August you'll find whole stretches to yourself, with the open sea in front.

The road through Athani

You arrive by car through Athani and Komilio, on a paved road that winds down to the sea with wide views at every bend. It's the same road that leads to Egremni and Porto Katsiki, so you can combine all three in a single day on the south-west coast.

Simplicity and quiet

Facilities are few, a summer canteen and a handful of umbrellas in season, and the rest is nature. Clear water, the sun setting straight into the sea and the quiet make Gialos the choice of those who want the beach in its simplest form.

How to get there

By car from Lefkada, about 35 min to the south-west, through Athani and Komilio; a paved road almost to the beach.
