Agios Ioannis beach, near Lefkada town, is the island's main kitesurfing spot, with steady wind and shallow water. The scenery of old windmills and the wide lagoon offers ideal conditions for both beginners and experienced riders.
The northern spot
Agios Ioannis beach, a few kilometres from Lefkada town, is the island's kite spot. The wind blows steadily, and the wide lagoon behind keeps the water shallow for tens of metres.
The windmills
The backdrop is unmistakable: a row of old stone windmills lined up along the sandbar. Many of the most beautiful kite shots in Lefkada are taken right here, with the sails against the windmills.
For any level
The shallow water is ideal for first lessons, where you stand with your feet on the bottom as you learn to handle the kite. Advanced riders head out to sea, where the side wind and small waves make for fast conditions.
