Studios on the beach, with a private beach, in Nikiana

There are few places in Lefkada where you step out of your room and are already on the beach. The sea is a few paces away, and the strip of sand in front of the building stays with the guests, with clear, shallow water along the shore.

In the morning the sun comes straight into the room. From the balcony you see the sea and the mainland mountains at the same time, and in the evening, once the light goes off the bay, only the sound of the waves is left. This is the kind of stay you look for when you want quiet, not nightlife.

The place is in Nikiana, on the east coast, about ten minutes by car from Nidri and roughly the same from Lefkada town. The village has tavernas on the water, a small fishing harbour and shops for the daily basics, but it stays calm in the evening.

There are sixteen units, in four kinds. The deluxe studios have a balcony over the sea, marble-clad bathrooms and the view from the bed. The classic studios are simpler, with air conditioning and a kitchen corner: a double sleeps two, a triple sleeps three. The two-room apartment, the only one in the complex, has room for up to five people.

From here the rest of the island is easy to reach: Porto Katsiki and Kathisma on the west coast, Agiofili by boat from Vasiliki, the Dimosari waterfall near Nidri, or a whole day on the water among the islets in the bay.
